Windows 10

If you have upgraded to W10, mind sharing your experience? I want to but I was wondering how much it costs once the 'free' is over and what if any internet fees apply? Please share. Thanks!

I haven't heard good things about it. I am still running XP which I considered the best software Microsoft ever developed. Good Luck.

I upgraded to 10 on my laptop and so far not too many complaints mostly just getting used to a new interface. I will upgrade to 10 on my desktop sometime in mid January. As I understand it there will be no costs if you upgrade to 10 during the free period. If not, then you will have to pay for it. The internet fees apply just like in all other versions. You can't really use your computer for much without an internet connection. I believe there was a major upgrade to 10 in late Dec which fixed a lot of the earlier complaints. Hope this helps.

I bought a new computer in August and waited to pick it up in September, so they computer store (custom build) could install a clean copy of Windows 10 instead of doing an upgrade. My son upgraded his laptop from Windows 8 to 10.

I have not problems at all with the interface. I have been using Windows since it first came out and generally there is a period of adjusting. I have used different versions of Windows on different computers the same day at work and it is not hard to go back and forth between OS on the different computers.

I do have an issue that when I use Internet Explorer on this site and this site alone, that my key strokes do not register properly and I have to back up and retype repeatedly. I have brought this to the admins attention, but got no reply. They will have to upgrade the code in the site sooner than later.

Most often it is an easier transition if you have a newer machine. I have been advised to avoid it if you don't use your machine for work.

I had this problem and it was not specific to Windows 10, but it was specific to this site only. There was a fix suggested by someone on this board and it worked! I will see if I can find that message, if you're interested, please pm me.

I did the upgrade to Windows 10 in August 2015. I thought I was having problems with it, turns out it was a problem with my laptop battery to laptop syncing.
I have had no problems with Windows 10 itself, I did have to re-install a driver for one program I run after the Windows 10 switch.
It works very well for me. In my area, the upgrade is free until sometime in July 2016. After that there will be a charge but I don't know what that will be.
My tech support guy did tell me that there will be limited support for Window 7 or 8 on an ongoing basis and it will be discontinued entirely once Microsoft is sure the bugs are out of 10.

My husband and I both upgraded to Windows 10 last summer/fall and haven't experienced any problems at all. We upgraded from Window 7 and our machines are both 3 to 4 years old. While 10 is a bit different from 7 it has been fairly easy to find everything I was looking for and we haven't experienced any compatibility issues at all. Give it a try - it wasn't bad at all.

I upgraded and liked 10 but had to go back to Windows 8 (which I hate) because 10 isn't compatible with my cable wifi feed... Hopefully fixed soon.
