I found a old Standard 1917 sewing machine in a Paragon cabinet. it looks pretty good but needs a new belt. I really dont know alot about old sewing machies and really need the advice of my quilting family..Do you think its worth $50.00? its not far from me so i can pick it up no problem...so what do you think???

thanks for any info or advice.

Is it a treadle?

Carrie Jo 05-02-2011 03:10 PM

yes.

I would get it, you can get a belt for less than $10 I think.

I would definitely get it for $50 if it's a treadle!

it has a couple bobbins, but no book. the cabinet looks pretty nice too.it has all the drawers.

We want pictures as soon as you get it home.

Grab it. Treadles are going up by the week around here. As are vintage all metal machines.

I paid $15 for my 1914 Singer treadle in 1968. I would grab it....it will last a lifetime. Just a new belt every few years and you've got a machine that won't wear out.
