Maybe just shorten it down to Gogo, She is adorable by the way. I have a Llaso/Poodle mix and they are the sweetest little dogs, you will love her

happymrs 11-07-2010 08:15 AM

We adopted two new pups in June, gave them both new names. They were 7m, & 1yr, at that time, & neither had a problem getting use to their new names, so, I say, go for it! Give her a new name, a cute one, that fits her, & everyone will be happier!...

mountain deb 11-07-2010 08:16 AM

How about GoGo? It still retains part of the old name but changed slightly.

b.zang 11-07-2010 08:27 AM

"What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

Dogs don't speak the same language as humans, so the only negative connotation to that name is what you give it. If the connection is positive, why change? Dogs learn their name no matter what language you speak.

amorerm 11-07-2010 08:33 AM

I did the same thing. When I got my got she weighed under 10 obls (still does). She was just a year old. I called her "Itty Bitty", tried to come up with another name but this one fits hers. She's the sweetest and most loving thing. She listens to me like a dog (when I call her she comes, when I say stay so I can finish something before she pounces, she stays. She's my Itty-Bitty Lovey. Animals are so amazing. Love them!!

I'd give her a new nickname along with what she knows. My Hunter for years thought his name was Nohunter.

marilyn y 11-07-2010 10:04 AM

All of our dogs have had multiple names. Cindy- AKA the Dowager Duchess of Dog; Missy AKA Miss-Miss or Big Dog; Mariah AKA Little Dog, Puppy-butt or Baby Dog; Beanie(a rescued registered Lab)AKA Miss Beans, Baby Beans, Beanie Baby or Pretty Girl; and Harley (another rescued purebread Lab)AKA Harley-Man, Big Guy or Harlford. They answer/answered to all the names with the exception of Harley. He's deaf. We can't figure out hand signals for all his names.

The only one we got to name was Mariah, everyone else can with their name and we didn't change them.

amorerm 11-07-2010 10:52 AM

Puppy-butt....LOL

lillybeck 11-07-2010 10:56 AM

This is a glowy

Luv Quilts and Cats 11-07-2010 10:58 AM

I would change it too. Go away has a negative tone to it and you don't want her to feel that vibe. Give her a cute name like Chelsie or Daisy. It won't take her long to learn it!

Just three months ago we adopted a 7 yr. old mixed female from the Humane Society. She was picked up off the street and had no collar or licence and no name tag, so of course they had no idea what her name was.

As you can see in the picture, she is buff color, so we named her Buffy. Within one week, she came to us when we called her name, Buffy. She is the sweetest little dog and so very loving. What a treasure we found in her.

I think you can change your dogs name easily. Sure is a cutie!

grannypat7925 11-07-2010 12:02 PM

Maybe just call her go-go-girl?

your baby has the same bottom lip as mine. sometimes you can see her bottom teeth. i started calling her gogo to see if she will answer. if i change her name i will have to change her name tag also. her dad looks like yours but he has black spots on him.

nwm50 11-07-2010 12:29 PM

Ooooh, what a cute doggie ! I don't know about her name but i think it's cute but she looks too precious to be called that but then again it's whatever you want it to be...

nwm50 11-07-2010 12:30 PM

I like Buffy too ! Look at those eyes....can't resist them !

ForestHobbit 11-07-2010 04:44 PM

She is very cute. Give her a new name. When we rescued Harley her name was Spot and she was 6 yrs old. My husband renamed her Harley after his bike. She had no problem letting go of Spot and becoming Harley.

p38flygirl 11-07-2010 04:47 PM

Apopular kids toy is called a ZU ZU PET..You could name her ZUZU-POO..or ZUZU for short...

adrianlee 11-07-2010 05:02 PM

She learned that is her name, let her keep it. We had a Shiztu who lived to be 15 years old; he went by the name of Axel Rose and my hubby also called him Fat Ass. That sweet little dog knew both names were his. An aunt of my hubby's had a poodle who was called Pissers because that dog 'hit' everything in the yard.

PATTIESPEARL 11-07-2010 05:19 PM

I HAVE AN ENGLISH COCKER THAT ADOPTED US 2 1/2 YEARS AGO THAT WE CALL POOCH. IT IS THE ONLY NAME HE RESPONDS TO NOW

galvestonangel 11-07-2010 05:38 PM

Since you have called her Miss Go Aqay, how about Missy. I have heard that you dhould put an E sound on the end of a dogs name, it is easier to say when you call them.

Dani 11-07-2010 07:08 PM

I think Chloe is cute and sounds similar as someone already mentioned.

Change her name to something cute, that is way too negative. Dogs can pick up on negativity. Better to call her Adorable.

How about Addy....short for adorable?

RugosaB 11-07-2010 09:14 PM

I saw a Scottie, a show dog, named Hot damn and Hallelujah

You could change her name to Go Play

Just a thought but you do realize that she is responding to the sound of her "name" and not the actual words.
I had a cousin who's dog ended up being called "Too late" because it was always late for meals and it's siblings had cleaned the bowls. (But he got his bowl refilled! :-P )

rob529 11-07-2010 10:41 PM

We adopted a cat from a shelter and they told us "his" name was Mike. I told the lady it was a girl cat and she was firm it was a boy. Vet agreed with me. Her name is still Mike. Go Away does sound a little harsh for such a sweet little thing.

Precious baby

rob529 11-07-2010 10:50 PM

I agree with our pets usually having more then 1 name. My son tells me I have a problem with never calling a pet by their given names.

This reminds me also of my mother, who passed on 4 years ago at the age of 80. When we 8 kids were growing up, most of us went by the name of "You There".

vanessa 11-08-2010 06:33 AM

I think she looks like a Sweetie. I would call her Sweetie or Sweetie Pie.

Agree. Growing up I had a cat names Doggy, and a cat named Stupid! Neither knew what their name meant nor did they care as long as they were fed and loved daily!

catrancher 11-08-2010 03:12 PM

I had to change a male cat's name once. We were told he was a female and we named him "Bethany." He was answering to it when we found out he was a male, so we started calling him "Benny." He didn't seem to notice the difference. Eventually, it ended up getting lengthened out to Benjamin and he always knew who he was. I'd suggest thinking of something that sounds like her name now and change it gradually. Go-ee could eventually become Zoe.

BellaBoo 11-08-2010 03:49 PM

call her Goway. It is close enough to sound the same to her and sounds interesting to humans.

TN Donna 11-08-2010 04:23 PM

Change it. She is so cute and needs a cute name.

wraez 11-08-2010 09:59 PM

how about 'cutie pie' .. we had a male dog like yours and we called him 'skidmore' cuz he was always skidding across the tiles.

warm quilt hugs, sue in CA

Kas 11-08-2010 10:28 PM

I was thinking Zoe, too.

nance-ell 11-09-2010 06:23 AM

If you want to change her name, change it. It's your decision. It's really not hard to do. Just start saying "Go Away *insert new name*" Then start dropping the "Go Away" until she responds to the new name only. We adopted a one year old lab mix (avatar photo) and I changed his name within a few days. We've had him 2 years and now he doesn't even recognize his old name.

tweety2 11-09-2010 04:50 PM

I think you should leave it as it is because she knows
that name.

RugosaB 11-10-2010 06:04 AM

When I was showing dogs, I held the leash to potty them, and said HurryUp so often that could have been their name
