Xyletol and dogs

Just saw a report that products with Xylitol can be fatal to dogs. Kids dog got into a package of gum and almost died. Keep any products with it stored safely away from pets.

Wow, so many new things can harm our dogs. There is suppose to be some new brand of peanut butter that will poison a dog.

Peanut butter!! nothing is safe anymore.
thank god my little Zoey (cat) only eats Blue buffalo and treats. She only eats bacon that's human food, but nothing else.
Be on the lookout for toxins everywhere. Even tuna now is toxic to humans. So ck your labels and be careful.

The number of food stuff that is dangerous to dogs and cats is increasing daily.

Xylitol is a laxative, and is found in a lot of sugar free free sweets and gums, there is usually a warning in the packet for the side effects to humans if you eat too much of the products.

It can't be great for humans either if it can kill a dog. It sounds more like laundry detergent than food.

Cocoa shell mulch is potentially fatal to dogs too.

My son, who is a Vet tech manager, says they see this all of the time. Unfortunately, he says, that a lot of the time they cannot save the dog

I discovered a place to buy tuna that is safe. www.tunatuna.com

Xylitol is used in a lot of products, including some peanut butters. My general rule of thumb for my dog is that NOTHING in the form of an artificial sweetener goes into his mouth.
