You experience funny things when you travel.....

It happened at a New York Airport. This is hilarious. I wish I had the guts of this girl. An award should go to the United Airlines gate agent in New York for being smart and funny, while making her point, when confronted with a passenger who probably deserved to fly as cargo. For all of you out there who have had to deal with an irate customer, this one is for you. A crowded United Airlines flight was canceled. A single agent was re-booking a long line of inconvenienced travelers. Suddenly, an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket on the counter and said, "I HAVE to be on this flight and it has to be FIRST CLASS." The agent replied, "I'm sorry, sir. I'll be happy to try to help you, but I've got to help these folks first; and then I'm sure we'll be able to work something out." The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?" Without hesitating, the agent smiled and grabbed her public address microphone. "May I have your attention, please?", she began, her voice heard clearly throughout the terminal. "We have a passenger here at Gate 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him with his identity, please come to Gate 14". With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the United Airlines agent, gritted his teeth, and said, "F*** You!" Without flinching, she smiled and said, "I'm sorry sir, you'll have to get in line for that, too."
Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

quiltstringz 01-03-2014 08:26 AM

Well she should get paid extra for providing the entertainment. Hope it doesn't blow back on her

This is really funny! Thanks for sharing! It seems like where ever we go, we meet someone who thinks they are so much more important than anybody else. This is a good way to handle them!

I once had someone call me some blank blank names. I looked her square in her eyes, and told her to please stop calling me her family names because I wasn't her blood relative. Her family clapped!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was on a small plane when an rich B*tch got on with her husband. She had a mink coat that she wanted to lay flatin the overhead bin -- they were all full - it would have held her coat folded up though. She proceeded to take out the luggage to put her coat in. The stewardess stopped her. RB then went to another overhead that held emergency supplies, etc. She started taking those out. The stewardess stopped her. RB then started in on the stewardess. Guess who was kicked off the plane!! Her husband just sat there. When RB turned to him for help when she was told to get off the plane he just told her it was her problem and he would see her when he got back. Everyone just roared!!

hilarious, great answers

That was quick thinking. She must be used to that type of abuse (too bad)

Sandygirl 01-04-2014 04:26 AM

This is YEARS ago when Green Stamps were being phased out. I recall a sales associate handling the cashing in of green stamps in the final days of existence. The line was long, as expected. One very crabby customer got in her face so she exclaimed...." I Quit"!! With that, she shut down her lane and walked to the back room! It was hilarious!! And I applauded her! Her manager came out and helped get the lane taken care of and she resumed her post. Sometimes the customer is not right...but rude!

Work a retail or any service job working with the public. It is fun and, at times challenging. I always enjoyed calming people down and helping defray their anger or displeasure, etc.

Me,too. She had a way of diffusing what could have been so, so ugly. That traveler needed what he got! IMHO Still laughing about it!

Hilarious! Thanks for sharing that

jeanharville 01-04-2014 09:39 PM

I wish I could be that clever and quick. But like someone mentioned above, this was probably not the first time she had run into this kind of "important one"

Yooper32 01-05-2014 05:45 AM

OH, how hilarious and you sure gave me my morning laugh and then some.

kathdavis 01-05-2014 07:04 AM

AuntieD 01-07-2014 04:51 PM

Good for her, link everyone else wasn't equally important.

Iraxy 01-08-2014 07:04 PM

I am sad to say that my DH acted almost as badly as that person at the airport when my mother was terminal and I had to get to Puerto Rico in a hurry. I don't know why people act that way, but I can tell you from personal experience that it changes your relationship forever. This happened in 2007 and I still cannot forgive him for making a real bad situation so much worse. I try to tell myself that he was just frustrated and trying to help me but I wonder if he is so insightful could he not see how horrible I felt because of his actions? I think that some people feel entitled because of their status in society or profession to act this way. I wish I could have laughed then and still wish I could laugh now. I actually cringed as I read this story.

Elfi2 01-09-2014 09:07 PM

Iraxy, did you ever tell you husband how you felt about the whole situation??? Did he ever say he was sorry??? Well even if he didn't you should let him know how you've felt ever since then and then apologize to him for having those "sorry" thoughts!!! You will see it will clear your heart, make you feel better and it might just make hubby realize his actions make you really unhappy. It never pays to hold a grudge and really at the end it poisons YOUR heart :( Good luck!!! :)
