I am sooo excited. I get to be an auntie again. My brother and his wife are having their first baby in the middle to end of may. We just found out last weekend and the worst part is that I cant tell anyone yet. I am hoping that my sil will let me make the baby bedding once they find out what they are having. I am really really excited. I am thinking about just starting to make a couple of baby quilts one boy and one girl now because I can't wait. I know it is probably weird to do this but I just can't seem to wait. I have been in a quilting funk for about 2 months and t his helps me get out of it. Although I can't sit and sew or cut out fabric for more than a combined 30 min a day due to whip lash from a recent car accident. But I am finally excited again. It is just wonderful huh. now to just pic out the patterns to use.

Congrats!

Another idea could be make neutral gender quilts, that is what I did.

Congratulations. I know the feeling of not wanting to wait. You probably should get going early since you had such a limited time each day to sew. Picking a pattern is always a fun part.

Pastel yellow and green were considered for a Boy or a Girl when I had kids, 60s and 70. Cute little animals also.
Congrats on a new neice or nephew, nothing greater than a new baby.

I'd be digging thru my stash looking at the brights and juvie fab. Oh what fun. Love sewing baby quilts...small and go fast. Thanks for sharing the great news! Oh...and I won't tell anyone either.

First of all, congrats & my lips are sealed... LOL! Since you've been in a funk & this has sparked your interest, I say go ahead & start making quilts. Make one of each & the one you don't need for your new little love, donate to Project Linus or Quilts For Kids. Just have fun! And keep us posted!

Congratulations! You could always make an I Spy quilt, then later "dress it up" with the appropriate colors. :)

OH I love that pattern .. where did you get it ? I found out yesterday that one of the drivers' wives is pregnant with twins they are both so excited!.

QandE2010 09-11-2012 05:10 PM

Your secret is safe with the thousands of Quilting Board readers. LOL. That is exciting and you could start on a generic quilt and like someone else mentioned, when you know the gender, you can make it either gender specific or gender neutral. Congratulations, Auntie.

debbieoh 09-11-2012 05:40 PM

Go ahead get quilting! babies never have enough quilts.
Maybe you will jinx them with TWINS 1 niece and 1 nephew. LOL!

Congratulations!

Farm Quilter, that fabric is a good reason to make a baby quilt. You know you will find someone to give it to.

BTW, most of my baby quilts are gender neutral. For example, a giant pinwheel made with brightly colored turtle fabric.

I love how you've done the alphabets

BETTY62 09-11-2012 10:12 PM

Congratulations on becoming an auntie again. It's never to soon to get started on a quilt for the little one. Just make a cute pattern that could be used by eiher sex.
