I have a short stack of six seed catalogs and a couple of perennial plant catalogs all vying for my attention.

Have you given any thought to your garden yet?

Even if it's still totally snow-covered?

I'm thinking about starting to plan for some new roses for my flower beds that need to be completely redug, etc. Good weather for that now for most of us....thinking about, not doing yet. LOL

Oh yes, took a walk yesterday, surveying the snow covered wildflower patch. Organized some seeds today. Was thinking about how soon I could start some seeds inside. If the ground thaws out enough this week end, I'm gonna dig up some fresh horseradish to use in sauce for rueben sandwiches on new years. I've got a smoke tree that needs to be trimmed. Might get that done tomarrow afternoon. Gonna get up to almost 60.

We'll be buried here until April...so I don't tend to think about my gardens until at least the end of February. But we don't plant until mid May

Oh, I remember those days when I used to study the seed catalogs that came between Christmas and New Years! When I lived in Upstate NY, I used to start all my flowers and veggies from seed and lived for the catalogs to arrive. Now that I live in AZ (Tucson area) and gardening is not as much of an option, I have adopted quilting as my main hobby. But, I still miss the large-scale gardening, starting plants, and getting my hands in the soil! Have fun and enjoy the little sprouts!

Well, I got my Vesey's today.. and it was great. Unfortunately, I live in tropical south florida... so most of the stuff will not survive the high heat or the bugs. Instead of growing the huge garden I'd love to do... I grow in containers on the back patio - about a 8'x 16' patch with Roses, cherry or grape tomatoes, beans, broccoli, cukes, marigolds, lettuces and peppers. lol Although I do wish I could get a 'rotary cutter replacement blade' tree to grow.. I haven't found one in the seed catalogs yet. Maybe someday! lol
