I'm also in Stanley. Can you PM me with your address?

I live in Mooresville, NC - about 30 miles up the road from Charlotte. Not a native (born in York, PA but lived most of my life till 2003 in Phienix, AZ) but love it here. Beats the desert any day of the week!!

I'm in Stanley just outside the Lincoln County Line. Would love to get together with you. Are you a hand piecer/hand quilter or do you do all your work on the machine?

I was born & raised in Asheville but left NC for college and never moved back, lived in Texas for 22 years now. Asheville is gorgeous, great place to grow up.

Hello IrishNY - I also live in Winston-Salem - about 20 to 25 minutes out (kind of in the country area) Davidson County.

From Mary Jo's Facebook page.

"Famous Gastonia Landmark Announces Retirement Sale

Mary Jo’s Cloth Store to sell through inventory by end of month

Gastonia, N.C. (August 16, 2019) – The iconic fabric mecca of the south, Mary Jo’s Cloth Store, has announced a Retirement Sale beginning this Sunday. The goal of the sale is to sell through the store’s remaining inventory, as their doors will close after the end of the sale".

It used to be a wonderful fabric store back in the 1980's and 90s when I lived in Charlotte. Bus tours from Atlanta and Washing DC would make the trip. With Mary Jo's death, it started to decline. In it's last years the quilting and dressmaking fabrics were a shadow of what they had once been and upholstery fabric was featured.

Hey PartsALot--- My Mom and Dad lived in Ellerbe for a long time. My Dad retired from L.G. DeWitt Trucking there in the curve where they sell peaches. They originally lived in Winston for years. Wow...small world.
