I went shopping for new switch and outlet plates. Now that is sticker shock! Each single plate was as much as a yard of fabric! Now I know why the new built homes have the plain plastic covers I'm wanting to replace! I wish I had taken all the plates from our last house and replaced them with the plastic ones.

Isn't it crazy?????? I've been there...

Yeah we bought some this past week I thought my husband was kidding

I get the plastic ones and repaint them to match the colors in the room. Easy fix to the ugly white.
|
I painted one of the plastic ones and it looked, well, like painted plastic. LOL

I found some that were decoupaged. The woman used her own artwork (printed on card stock) and cut it to fit the switchplates. I'm guessing she used something like mod podge to seal them. I loved them and bought a bunch to use. Bet you could use fabric, too and coordinate with your paint/wallpaper. Forgive me, feeling crafty today.

that is so true... but you have to do it before you put the house up for sale
|
You can also glue fabric on the cheap plastic ones.
|
I did this too. I used a sewing picture for my sewing room and angels for my bedroom. I just used the plastic ones that were already there. You can also get cheap wooden ones for about $1, that's what I used for my Girl Scouts. They had a ball with that and the parents liked it too.
