You could name a Cat or a dog Mat after cutting mat or Scraps. I named a dog Rags once. You could name the cat swirls or feathers. Or FussyCat instead of fussy cut

My cousin named her cat Fraddie cause he was a fraddie cat.

I have a 20 pound cat. I could call him " Fat Quarter".

My first thought was "Rotary". It might fit an active kitten! I have an office colleague with a cat named "Scrappy". A cat will always consider itself the "Ruler". I suspect you will have more naming choices than you will need. What a fun thread!

I like stitch years ago Disney had a movie call lilo and stitch but don't remember what kind of animals they were, and many years ago I had a beautiful calico cat that just appeared in my back yard and wouldn't leave so I took her in had her spaded, named her pansy because at the top of her head she had markings that look exactly like a pansy.

Olfa would be a cute name (after the rotary cutters) and very unique as well. I am a huge fan of unique names. I strive for names that no one else thinks of, especially for my dogs. Ho'nehe (pronounced Hoe - Nah - Hay) was my last dog and no one had ever heard of that name before. My current crew are Keuka and Inigo so those are fairly unique. If you go to quilters cache http://www.quilterscache.com/QuiltBlocksGalore.html I am sure you can get loads of inspiration from all the block names.

Manydrose, Lila was a little Hawaiian girl and Stitch was an alien that Lilo thought was a puppy at first.

I guess it would depend especially on the coat of the cat. Calico would be my first choice but it would have to have patches of various colors. I named my black & white cat Whistle because she would come when I whistled.

Barbara, naming a cat FAT QUARTER is hysterical! (Maybe JELLY ROLL or LAYER CAKE too?) :-)

Maybe I should call my cat NOTION since I love them so much! I suppose THIMBLE is another possibility.

The two rescue kitties I'm considering are named Cinderella (I'd NEVER name a cat that!) (a dilute calico with a half & half color on the head) and Jake (OK, but not my first choice) (a buff tabby with gold eyes). So, hopefully this weekend I'll get a better idea. Thanks everyone for the ideas!
