We had a quarter inch last night, but just south of us they had over an inch and some places had hail. I think the whole nation needs rain and hope it comes soon for everone. We may get more rain next week, sure hope so.

We've been fortunate with rain, but it's so hot and humid! I'm ready for winter!

WHAT IS RAIN ?????? West of Des Moines has had several rains--east side of town hasn't had a drop. Our air conditioner quit yesterday in the 102 degree heat so we pulled all the curtains and turned on fans trying to contain the cool air. Repairman was here this noon and got it going again. Had talked to him this spring about replacing the 26 yr old furnace and air this fall so he didn't even charge to fix it today--how great is that !!!! My HERO!!

We need some sunshine. Some crops are turning yellow. We just cut the grass in our yard with haying equipment because it has been too wet to use our riding mower.

We received two tenths of an inch. The crops are going to be really bad this year without rain.

The next day after I watered the bushes and some of the yard, we enter a rainy period. Today around the Jackson, MS area, we had 2 1/2 inches of rain. It has been raining off and on all week and 70% chance for tomorrow and 50% chance for Saturday. I was happy to see it. August around here is usually dry so maybe we have enough to get the bushes and trees through until the rains comes again. I hope the rest of the country gets some soon.

We finally got rain today too! It rained almost all day!!! It was such a wonderful thing to see and it broke our 23 day record of over 90 degree days (with the majority of the days in the triple digits). I enjoyed the mid 70's today very much!
