Default Repurpose Items to use as Unusual Sewing Notions

In case you haven't seen enough great ideas yet on the board, here's some more. Some of my favorites shared in this link:

I have been discarding many pill containers but cutting a hole in the top to use for pulling small elastic, binding, etc. out of is a great idea! I use whey protein containers too and I bet I could cut a bigger hole for regular size binding!

I already have a long hemostat bought from Harbor Freight that works great as a tube turner.

Plastic chopping mats from the Dollar Store for making templates! Great idea!

Some good ideas, I particularly like the plastic chopping mat one, will have to give that a go on the applique I'm doing at the moment as I am using the same shape a lot and will be much better than my usual cereal box card lol

I like the one about .... open the end of an old pillowcase for a slip cover for your ironing board.

You can also use an old fancy pillowcase to make a neat cover for your sewing machine. Cut the "bottom" off and sew one seam and voila! New, neat, easy cover! Could open the side seam and quilt if you want more body and then resew the side seam.

I think I will try your idea, I wanted to do a machine cover for a while but always put it on the back burner , this sound easy and fast!

I save the plastic zipper bags that my new sheets and bedding come in. I put together "kits" (fabrics, thread patterns, etc), which I can grab and work on when we travel. The bags are then used to store the projects in progress, keeping everything together. Hubby is a professional drag racer, so we are on the road sometimes 2 weekends a months. Today we are sitting at the track and it is raining and not looking like we will get too much in today. BUT I get to pull my Brother Inovis 1250D and work on 3 in-the-hoop mini iPad cases to be given as Christmas gifts. I also brought a "kit" based on a MSQC I saw Jenny do a few weeks ago. As much as I love racing, a rain day at the race track is nice, not like at home because I have no laundry here, no housework (except picking up around the motor home, nothing like a 3000 foot 4 bedroom house), and hubby goes visiting with the other racers leaving me to enjoy my sewing vacation.

the one about buttons from the thrift store, I keep the buttons on the blouse/shirt strip. Especially if there are a lot. They then go into my large peanut butter jars.

Definitely a site worth checking out = I didn't have time to read all of them but will go back and read them and take note!

Thanks for the link!
