Thursday morning a group of ladies from Church are being taught how to do these scarves using a crochet needle. It will be a fun morning visiting and learning!!

When I made mine, I used a 9. Found some bamboo needles in 10 and switched to that size thinking it wouldn't make a difference. Well, the scarves I made with the 10's were a bit shorter than the ones made with the 9s. Not that it mattered, just an observation because I thought with predetermined holes it wouldn't make a difference.

The needle size is very interchangeable. I have used anywhere from a 4 to a 10. The size of the loops will help determine size. I also have cast on only 5 stitches to make a very long skinny scarf. This is a fun scarf to knit and a huge hit! Made over a dozen different ones for xmas. Enjoy

I use a 10 or 11 and use 7 or 8 stitches. I found some nice short needles( about 8 inches) at A.C. Moore that are nice to work with.

I have made 2 on my knitting machine. One was a winter weight and the other was summer weight.

I can't tell you all how many of these ruffled scarves I've made and given away to friends and co-workers. I think the knitted ones take longer to make (about 3 hours) but they are more fluffier. I have found that the wooden knitting needles with the plastic tubing connecting both needles is great to keep the stitches from slipping off so I can carry my unfinished scarves around and work on them during break times. They really are fun to do and the different colors/brands keeps me from getting bored.

It makes little difference. I would opt for the one that is easiest to use.

It doesn't really matter because the holes in the Sashay yarn are so large. The finished scarf is lacey, so needle size doesn't matter.
