    Scarlett's Doll ....

The little girl getting this doll is a California child. She is two years old, and has already had fourteen surgeries. She got a new and second diagnosis of brain cancer. Her family was told when she was much younger she would not survive. She is a fighter for now she is already two and doing better after her second round of Chemo.

her doll is a topsy turvy doll or otherwise a two in one doll

This doll will make its way to her via the post-office this very afternoon.

Of the 146 dolls completed, this is doll 135. I have 4 girls and 1 boy doll waiting for a home with a very sick child.

She's a cute little doll. I know that she's going to love her!

How adorable! My kids once had a 'doll' like this. Theirs was Red Riding Hood and flip it over and it was the Big Bad Wolf. Needless to say, we told this story many times.

I love that you are making dolls for the ACS and know that they brighten a child's day.

    God bless.

Thanks so much Tudey. Maybe you'll see her in church with it one day. I hope it brings her a world of love and comfort. God bless these little ones. Thanks for the reply.

The majority of them go to kids with cancer. Some have gone to other children and sew_tracy on the forum is hosting a website for me, to tell all about the dolls. Several went to children with heart problems and transplant needs, one to a child that was in a 3 week coma and got seizures over an auto accident, some with other needs. One went to a child in need of a new heart and liver. The list just goes on and on. Two children some time back were 'laid to rest' with their doll babies'. People here on the forum, etc ....have helped out with the dolls in an enormous way, or there would not be so many out now. It is to the point where I mostly sew dresses together (buy the boys clothing at a thrift store) make the hats and faces and fill them with prayers and hugs and sit them aside till a child is in need of them. Seems like the Lord keeps supplying all the dolls need to bring them to life. I just do the labor. I make the girls dresses as pretty as I can. I keep them 'Toddler size' and the kids seem to love them that way.

Dear Chase, it is because of people like you, I am able to make the dolls lovely. I get excited when I go to the lace/trim supplies and decide what will go on which dress, and pretty much throw myself into doing the very best I can to make it pretty. I think I can almost see the smiles of the little girls and feel the excitement when I dress the boys so they look like little men for the guy kids. I get more out of making them, I think, than the children that get them. I hope I can continue for a long time. The newest doll I have made reminds me of a story, this one being of a similar dress with a pink background I had made for the ACS to give out. I was told that when the child got the doll, her parents said it was the first time in months they'd seen her smile. That makes it all worthwhile.

May the good Lord bless all of you for your love and caring nature, in meeting their needs. I really appreciate all the gifts and encouragement on behalf of these kids. Thanks so much.

There was just a program on Sewing With Nancy about this doll being made for abused wemen. Sized so the could carry them in a pocket or purse. What a wonderful group of women and men who make these for them.
    God Bless

    Dear Vickey,

My husband and I were very happy to help with your loving project. You put smiles on little ones faces and that my friend is such a wonderful thing. To see any child smile makes my day.

p.s. Do you have any pictures of your little men dolls? I can't remember seeing any.

Kudos to you Vickey for what you do. I know God has his plan but I find it quite distressing hearing of little ones like Scarlett when there are so many who don't respect the life they were given. Keep up the good work. I'm sure you and your dolls have brought happiness to lots of sick children and their families.

I make quilts for abused/neglected kids and know how it makes me feel.

That's a wonderful thing you are doing. It warms my heart to hear these little ones, that deserve more, are getting comfort from others, even though we are strangers to them. I so agree with what you said about so many kids don't appreciate what they have. Thanks for writing to me. I really appreciate it.
