Good evening, y'all. Unwanted excitement here this evening. I have been having trouble with yellow jacket wasps. The nest is under the trim strip on the corner of the house and I can't get at it. I've saturated the area - and me, with spray twice. But first today, I used the Furminator too hard on Lily, my Siberian mix. Red blood on a white and red dog isn't pretty. Then I trimmed her nails which is hard for a Sibe as they don't like their feet touched, but she was good girl. When I sent her to play, she tangled with a wasp. It got her right under the eye. I brought her in and washed her face because then I didn't know just where the bite was. I put a cold compress on it and while I was in the kitchen getting some of Moira's (the Border Collie mix) allergy medicine, Lily started having trouble breathing. The meds kicked in and I sang to her to calm her down, then my son called in time to calm me down. By the time we were finished talking, the swelling under her eye and in her throat had gone down. The dogs and I later went walking, but left the house a different way. I think I will give her more meds before bed. The worst it will do is make her sleepy. Anyone know how to get rid of yellow jackets?

Gail, try going gluten free for a few weeks. There is some evidence that it may a healthy way to eat for more people than just those of us that have diagnosed with celiac disease. That way, you can avoid the cake. I know someone who lost pounds and bloat trying it. My GD has been baking GF brownies for me when she has a party for one of my GGSs. I wish she wouldn't. I'm fine with a little ice cream. BTW, you'll notice a big difference in the foot at about the six month mark, but it may be a year before it is normal. Healing takes more time than we want to give it.

Whoops, where are my manners? Welcome to our newcomers, countryhousequilter, Pink Lady and Cornelia Ann. Welcome back to the rest of you. I hope for more participants tomorrow or Tuesday. Holidays throw everyone off.

September already. Wow! It will be Christmas before we know it. Scary, as I have such a large family to buy for.

Eat clean, drink your water and move your body. The only one of these I do consistently is the moving and that's because I have two furry walking partners. I did have a lot of fruit and veggies today, but not enough water.

I AM losing weight and getting healthier. Where is everose reminding us to take care of ourselves? And nancia making us think and smile in the same post?

Please share your suggestions of what you would want in a theme for fat quarters.

Ladies........just a little house keeping note---- if you decide to send in 4 months at a time, you will still need to sign up each month on the new thread to show you are still wanting to join in. I know this is probably already understood, just wanting to make sure all knows.

I am also looking to plan the Theme for the entire year, so I would love some suggestions. I already hear some want shades of pink......so have 11 more months to plan. What would you like to see as a theme.???? This is our group not my group.

Enjoy your labor day. I will be working on the T-shirt quilt. I have 2 sides with the frame on all shirts, not to cut the strips to size for the other 2 sides. Then the fun begins with playing with the layout.

IrishRose.........how is your furbaby doing today after getting stung? You did have an adventures afternoon. Glad you were able to calm her down.

Yes where has the time gone, can hardly believe it is September already and Halloween is less than 60 days away. Football has begun. Christmas will be here before we know it.

Speaking of Christmas......what do you have on you Christmas list to make??? I haven't even thought of what I am going to give this year.

Welcome Newcomers. If you have not sent me a private message or I sent you pne please do so for the mailing address. Thank you.

Lily is fine. I didn't need to give her the second med. She has a damaged trachea from an accident we had on a bicycle so it was scary when her throat started to swell. I thought about calling my #3 daughter for a Epipen, but that would have left S without one for the rest of the weekend. She needs at least two if she gets stung. Now we will see if Miss Liliana is smart enough to stay away from the corner with the wasps. I have to go in that area to water my flowers, but she doesn't.

Congratulations, countryhousequilter. 8 pounds is a perfect loss. No more than two pounds is week is ideal. Ignore the new member welcome. I took last month off so I didn't keep the list.

I have a baby quilt to FMQ. I'm finding I don't like having a drawn pattern, but I can't switch now. I prefer to do my own thing, not stay on a line. I have snowballs for a donation quilt on another machine and I find myself drawn to that one - I avoid things I don't like to do, but that won't get the baby quilt finished. I think my oldest daughter is coming in to dig up some of my flowers. She likes honeysuckle and can't find any. I can live without mine as it's in an area I don't go on a regular basis. Her fire ruined her gardens, too. You don't think about that.

Food today? Oatmeal with walnuts and fruit for brunch then chili and veggies for dinner. I'd rather have a grilled hamburger, but I need to finish the chili and my cholesterol is high again, so no HBs for a while. Snack may be a small ice cream when K comes in.

Have a healthy eating day, everyone.

Wow, congrats COUNTRYHOUSEQUILTER - 8#, that's fantastic. I'm glad when the scales show my puny 2#. I'll have to really try this month to see if I can match you. What a challenge! I'm leaving Thursday for Atlanta as my BIL died and we're going there to be with sister and for the memorial service on Saturday. There'll be plenty of food everywhere - and I'll really need to keep all of you in my thoughts so I don't overdo it.
Looked through my project stash (different from my fabric stash) and saw 2 for Christmas. One is a flat applique and the other is a pieced Christmas-type panel. Don't know if I'll tackle one, both or none. Make that decision later after Quilt of Valor is completed (need it for a November veterans service) Then maybe I can think about something for me!
Take care, everyone and I'll check in when we return from Atlanta.
