Recently I have relocated my Bernette 335S Serger nicely stored in its carrier case W/O its manual and power cord & pedal. Ugh! I believe it was manufactured in in the 90s but cannot find any info on that specific model.

Anyway, I am in search of a new serger that is low on its need for service maintenance and not too pricey. What is your recommendation? Thank you for your help.

Berninas usually need to be service at least every 12 to 18 months.

It works perfect for my needs, easy to operate and really fun to use. I mainly use it for seams when making clothes.

Maybe a slightly larger throat area. Just a little bit more room in that area would do wonders. Other than that I am really happy with it.

I purchased a Bernina 800DL in 2004 & it's only had to be serviced once. I use it a lot, especially on heavy fabrics. Unless the belt slips off there really is no sevice required. Oil it, keep the dust out & it's good to go.

I have a Babylock air thread-----wouldn't trade for any other----very happy with it and sew easy to thread

The Bernette sergers are made by Juki. My 334D recently gave up. It was bought about 1990. The only service I had was to replace the foot peddle. I ordered a Juki from sewing machine plus. They are more plastic than the older machines and not as heavy. Good luck.

Did you try to contact the Bernette company or local dealer to see if they could help in any way, also search ebay it won't hurt you may be surprise.

I have a Baby Lock air -- it threads the upper and lower loopers automatically. And it will also thread the needle (I still haven't figured that one out). I absolutely love it. It is a bit pricey, but well worth the investment. Check for good buys on E-bay or maybe your local repair shop has a refurbished unit.
