Default Should have done this a long time ago!

Last fall I had a huge health scare. Once I got home afte 3 weeks in the hospital I said I was going to get help with the household cleaning. So here I am 7 months later and I finally hired a cleaning lady! Should have done it right off the bat. She spring cleaned my kitchen and I couldn't be happier!!!! Going to start coming every Thursday and doing all the things I don't do, YIPEE more time for quilting.

I had a cleaning lady when my kids were pre-drivers, in many activities, had many social outings, and my husband I worked jobs requiring more than a 40 hour work week. I loved having that cleaning lady! Once the kids could take themselves to all of their activities I became the cleaning lady again. :-(

I am so glad you took the plunge! That is great.

I hired a lady about 5 years ago. At first she came every 4 weeks - then it was every three weeks and now it is every other week. My husband was giving me a hard time about it in front of friends and his friend asked him which chore he wanted to take over - cleaning the showers and toilets or mopping all the floors? Since we retired he thought it was foolish that I pay to have it done, but I have enough chores to keep me busy - he mows the lawn once every 4 to 6 weeks, might take out the trash once a month. He is not lazy but has other things to do with the youth group, playing in a band on Sunday and the practice on Wed. nights. In 40 years of marriage, he has mopped the kitchen floor once, never cleaned a toilet, and I do believe he vacuumed a few times in those 40 years. No I am not keeping track but I love having someone else do those chores. I do not let her wash our clothes or changes our sheets - haven't been able to give that up - but having her clean the kitchen, bathrooms and dust and vacuum the house is wonderful. I do the light work between her times - usually have her come and do a "Spring" clean once a year - but for the most part it is wonderful.

Tried so hard to get my mother do hire someone, but she said she just couldn't - she would rather it not be done because she was not physically able to clean. I would clean when I would visit, but she lived near Seattle and I live in the southern most part of California.

My DH is great around the house. Cooks, dose laundry, dishes, just's don't get him to vaccume. I swear he reverts to a 6 year old and only dose the center of the room! LOL! Its the other stuff that dosn't get done. All the stuff I used to be able to do. I am not able to climb and tire easily. By the time I finnish work at school I am toast. I am still shaking my head that I didn't do this sooner.

My DH does all the cleaning. I work full time and he does not. Fishing season my house isn't nearly as neat. I have to do the bathrooms, he cleans them, but hey, men don't see what women do apparently. I clean the bathrooms and other things that he might not notice on Saturdays. I spent last Saturday home alone and did a LOT of cleaning, but when he came home he couldn't see the stuff i did and thought I didn't do anything. I cleaned houses for a living for a few years when we were first married. Didn't bother me to clean someone elses house, but I can't bring myself to let anyone in to clean mine. Maybe I will change later in life. LOL.

There are drawbacks to having a cleaning lady. I was brought up with live in help as a child, and don't have a clue how to clean.. It probably takes me twice as long as someone that was brought up with chores.. My mom, and dad worked full time, and wanted the weekends to do fun stuff with us.. We also went to private school, and didn't get home until 5:00.. I figured out how to do the laundry, as an adult when I moved out.. I'm now in my fifties, and am ready to have one help..
