If you put two small loads into one, this would make it more cost effective too. Less money on detergent, water, electricity to do only one load. So probably really good idea for small families.

I use them for quilts that I didn't wash the fabric before making and those with a lot of white/light colors in them. I only use them in clothing when I am doing my father-in-law's things because I have very small loads and wash them together.

I always separate the laundry, but I have several dark shirts that have white collar and cuffs and the white part doesn't look dingy when I use the Shout sheets. The sheets look really dingy! I don't think I shall be without them.

I've been using these a while and find them very handy, but the other day I didn't have much washing so threw a mixed wash in with 3 shout sheets(2 had been pre-used), I hadn't realised there was a red pair of shorts in the mix which had really run, the sheets had saved all the washing, but my brand new bra, which is now a dinghy pink, typical isn't it. I'll keep using them for mixed colours, but won't chance whites in the mix again.

I am choosy about when I use them. I definitely use them on the tops and shirts that have white has an accent to the darker colours on them.I use them whenever I wash a quilt that has any bright colours. Dark jeans with hubby'sdark socks and underwear? Not a chance! :-)

There is also a terry cloth that does the same thing. It is from Carbona,made in Germany; color grabber and is reusable for 30 wash loads. I got mine at Hancock fabrics for under $5. But have seen them at Walmart, but a different brand. I use them for every washload and when I wash my new fabrics and quilts.

I use color catchers when I don't have enough to do a full load of darks or whites. So I wash them together, I also use when washing quilts made with batiq fabric or blacks.

I wondered if they worked or not. I generally wash all my stuff together - I don't have enough laundry to separate out & my stuff has been washed 1,000 times already.
