What a totally cool place to live. Are you getting transferred out soon? I know the military is like Methodist preachers never anywhere long. Do wild orchids grow everywhere & anthuriums. I love both. Guess you do get tired of the humidity. You should live in Texas, it will kill you sometimes. Going to San Antonio tomorrow for a few days & it is really hot there. Gulf Coast at least has a constant breeze. Here in East Texas it can be dead still for days & then wind blow like crazy. Hurricane season is here so we don't know what to expect. Enjoy your time left as you may never get there again.

Wow! Very beautiful! Michigan has the Great Lakes, but they're not tropical!

I have a friend who was on an island while in the Peace Corps. He loved his experience, but said sometimes it was a good thing he was on an island!

Hey Terri, thanks for the quick trip! It sure looks refreshing today..I'd love to try the kayak and probably take a dip. Those islands are really close to Guam...hmmm...whoda' thunk it? I guess you could say that I REALLY need to look at a map

Love the pics, so thank you...I'd love to see some fish pics...tell Courtney to get movin'!

Wow, Terri, you keep calling Guam a pebble, but it sure is a pretty one with lots of beautiful views. Thanks for sharing them with us.

We should be leaving here around March of next year. I hope and pray really hard that we do!
I'm sure there are orchids and anthuriums that may grow wild, but I'm not one that is really going into the jungle here to find out. There are snakes and wild pigs here that I really don't want to meet up with, even tho they say the pigs will run the other way.
I'm tired of islands, period! It's always hot, hot, hot here and I'm wanting change, change, change.
As to enjoy my time I have left here? Yes, I will, but coming back again....NEVER, unless there are pieces of paper with hubby name on it that says we have to come back.

It's drizzly today, so not a good day to get to the beach. Maybe it will clear up later on in the afternoon...hope so!

It is beautiful but I too would not do well there. I am practically "clear" in complexion and when we go to the beach I stay inside until nightfall. (vampire beach goer) Between the menopause and thyroid disease I can't take the heat at all.

Girl i didn't want you to go exploring, that booger might still be waiting for you. The orchids usually grow along with the bananas. Bet there is vanilla bean orchids there. They smell so good. Hoping when y'all get shipped out you will go to a better place.

I so hope you get your posting in March, I bet that it does get boaring after a while, the continual heat would get me down to. Interesting that you have wild pigs. We have them here too they call them boars here and big ugly things they are.

The other night I was on the balcony and there was a small pig running down the road...I named it...Dinner! lol

I sure hope we get what we want too, Elle!
I've told both hubby and Courtney that we have to have the house unpacked right away so I can take my trips!!! :) :)

Terri--what gorgeous photos. My two favorites are the banana tree!! (How cool is that!! Are they Dole's? ) and the one where you said one can kayak to Cocos Island... stunning. I want to kayak there!!

LOL No, don't think they are Dole's. They were just on the side of the road. They'll be gone by next week. People just drive up, cut them down and they are off! I have a banana tree in my yard, but no bananas yet. Had one that had a pod, but a strong wind blew it over :(

I keep saying I want to kayak there. I get crazy looks. Maybe I can jetski over. I'm sure they rent them for that too!

Just love your pictures. I sure could use some of that weather here though. It is June and feels more like April.

    Thanks Loretta!
You know, I've been asked before if I had to do it over again, would I change anything. NOPE! I actually love my life. Sure, moving all the time and not really having a place to call mine isn't fun, but it's an experience, not for everyone, but I love it. (just not loving being on an island)

I wish it were THAT easy this time.
We get sort of free tickets.
Since we have done back to back "overseas" tours, we get what is called COTS Travel. It means, the Navy will pay for ALL of us to go back to Bill's Home of Record (Kansas), BUT...if we want, we can change the ticket to go where WE want to go. If there is a difference in price, we pay the difference. If the difference is less...we don't get the money. :(
So, in order for us to go, HE has to go too!
It's just trying to figure out HOW to get to where we want to go. Australia is a HUGE place and hubs can drive on the wrong side of the road, not a problem, but if we drove from north to south, it would take ALL of our vacation and we wouldn't be able to do/see anything.

I'm hoping to get to the Northern part of the island maybe this weekend coming. All depends on hubbys schedule on the ship.
I like him to drive so I can tell him when to stop so I can take pictures.
Thanks for the mini-tour Terri! Love looking at those blues & blue-greens, aaaaahhhh.....
When my sister & BIL go on vacation, Judy just says "Photo Op!!" & Walter knows to stop NOW! LOL

I usually have to yell STOOOOP!!!!
He doesn't like to stop. For me to get the pic of the bananas, I had to walk back about a couple blocks. He wouldn't back up or turn around. He's such a dweeb at times....
