Never heard of this but will try it . Had to throw out a box of Oatmeal to the birds the other day because of the flour moths.

We store flour, oatmeal, and such in the freezer to avoid buggy problems.

Are these winter hardy or do you bring them indoors in winter? Is this the same tree that gives bay leaves?

I absolutely hate flies! I do everything I can to keep them out. I gag when the "m" word is mentioned.

My daughter hangs a zipper bag partially filled with water in her doorway and the flies stay away.

Outdoor restaurants use this trick with the zipper bag, water - BUT the trick is putting shiny copper pennies in it. I guess it has something to do with the prisms when the sun hits it.

My grandma had bay trees all around her farmhouse. There were no screens on doors or windows and no flies neither. She maintained it was the influence of the bay trees.

Thank you for the tip. Our neighbors have horses, but rarely clean the stalls, so the flies are viscious. Sure gonna try your method

I wish it would work to repel cats! The neighbor enjoys having 9 cats that live outdoors -- they use my raised garden beds for their litter box.
