Every grain product I buy goes in the freezer for a week to kill any possible infestation. I haven't had a bug problem in the pantry in years since I started doing this. If you have bugs one time, you have to get rid of every grain product in the same pantry, scrub the pantry from top to bottom, or they will reappear.

Thanks for the tip. I looked it up and I may buy some seeds. They can't ship the plants to OR. Half of the yard is unfinished so I guess the 3' tall plants would be ok. That side of the yard is shady most of the day though, and from what I've read rue plants prefer full sun.

i hung some bay leaves on the front and back porch.i put them in some cheese cloth and wrap it with string or jute. and put it buy the outside lite next to door and i think it does work. it blows in the wind so maybe that is why they stay away.i dont know but seems to be working.

I'm totally for natural remedies but for a heavy fly infestation I've sprayed insecticide on the screen doors. Keeps them from gathering there, all ready to zip into the house whenever someone goes in or out. I wouldn't spray it inside the house.

I have been told that the eggs are in the flour, we just use it before they hatch, Ughh. We had friends moved to another country, and they had to sift them out before they could use the flour. I don't like to think about it.LOL

I've been putting eggshells in there, which are good for the garden.
