Default Spring Cleaning Inspiration

I watched my first episode of Hoarders on Amazon today. Oh my Gilead. 10 minutes in and I was organizing the pantry. By the end I had scrubbed the entire kitchen down including the cabinetry trim, windows, vents, and polished the wood. LOL Procter and Gamble has nothing on this show for inspiring a cleaning spree. I started looking around the living room and my fingers started twitching over seeing books stacked by a chair and the shoes by the door were piled up.

Nice cleaning spree! I don't usually watch that show. It's sad how crazy obsessed people are about their stuff. Once I saw one of the shows where someone hoarded rabbits. It was so gross in their house with all the chewing and filthiness. Spending a lot of time with a German grandma, I am a neat and clean freak anyway without watching that for inspiration!

Man, I wish those shows affected me that way! I watch and think, "Mine's not that bad. Yet."

Jan in VA, who has gotten just so lazy these days!

Oh Jan, I have the same feeling when I watch those shows. I may have lots of stuff .... a stash of fabric and books ..... but it has not taken over my home. But I will say that I've given some of my space for it, it's just me and the dog here so it's ok.

I am like Jan, I see those shows and my comparison my house is not bad. I am alone with my cat too so if we are happy that's all that matters.

The only time I really know how much fabric I have is when one of the kids comes over, goes into my studio, gasps, and says, "OMG"! I just grin (to myself) thinking how much fun they'll have when I pass on... LOL

Is this hoarding collecting part of quilting. My home is like theirs . I am not crazy as some one said I have severe depression and going to see a psychiatrist today to find out what else. It is a severe mental problem over which we have little or no control. Not sure about the rabbit or rat houses . I hope to begin treatment today to help. It is difficult to just move or as my brother says threw it away.lease try to understand our problem is just as bad if not worse than a broken leg a severe injury all of which are visible.
I admit I should know better I should be able to do something. It begins slowly and by the time we realise it is beyond our own help. I still can't understand a family accepting it but if you live alone no one is there to say stop.

My husbands favorite expression is "what a mess! How do you find anything?" The sad part is after reorganizing and cleaning my studio, I CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING. When I have a quilt or two in progress, I can almost always put my hand on everything I need.

FlyLady is a very good friend of mine - check her out: http://www.flylady.net Some parts of my world she really keeps under control; then there are the other parts......

Last night I spent hours going through paperwork - organizing (couldn't have found anything if I had needed it), pitching, shredding, etc. That took care of one of my paperwork stashes.....We won't even talk about the storage area!
