Squirrels can be very destructive. My friends that live in Denver had to call the "wildlife removal specialists" and have the squirrels removed from their attic. They caught a dozen squirrels in 3 days. They chew tv cables and tear up patio chair cushions for thier nests.

We do not like squirrels, either. They are having a feast on our redwood deck to the point of being unbelievably destructive. We used to enjoy watching them on the bird feeder, but now we do everything we can to keep them away from feeders and especially the house.

Destructive! you bet! We live on almost four acres. Many years ago when my mother was alive, she took a one week vacation. After a few days I was checking her house and found some squirrels had gotten in the attic and chewed through the drywall and got into the bathroom and laundry room. What a mess!!! Funny though. My husband and I closed up the entrances they made and cleaned the place before she got back. She was not at all surprised since she said they had tried it before and she surprised them.

Well, they can be destructive and I have a few half-chewed bird feeders to prove it. :D But I still love the little critters. I find if they can easily (and I do mean easily!) get to the birdseed in the feeders, they just eat and leave the feeder alone. They are voracious eaters, but we enjoy them so much, it's okay with us. :D :D

It's nice to meet some folks who enjoy them also. I understand why some try to discourage them from getting to their feeders, but we have learned to enjoy and embrace them and their funny little antics. :D

I think they are cute and don't mind watching them from afar...my sister on the other hand dislikes them because they continue to chew the electrical wiring from underneath her car. FYI, they enjoy Ford Focus wiring only...lol. The Chevy, VW, and Toyota are not to their liking! Four times they've completely chewed out the wiring from the Ford, while not having an interest in any of the other vehicles.

I HATE squirrels. They have managed to get into our attic (we're still looking for holes) and they are destroying the house! I have little footprints in the dust on the piano, and one ate half a stick of butter that was sitting on the kitchen table! It's a tiny pine squirrel, so is too big for a mouse trap, but too small for a rat trap. I want it OUT of my house!!! It actually fell down between the 2x4's in the wall, couldn't get back up, so proceeded to chew a hole through the wall in a closet to get out! Now I can't get it out of the house!

They may be cute but can be very destructive. be very careful. One example is one completely ate thru the phone and cable wiring at my sons. He also had feeders for the, had no phone or tv for almost 2 weeks till all the wiring was replaced. plus the cost of fixing the wiring that went into the house wasn't cheap. Thank heavens most the companoies had to replace.
