You can buy (I'm 5'1" also) a black clip that allows you to adjust where it crosses your chest. I used to get a raw neck from them, too even when I slid it down.

I have the same problem, too, and am constantly pulling the belt away from my neck. I'm 5'4" While I was reading the posts here, I thought about my grandchildren's car seats. They have the little padded pieces that can be moved up and down to keep the car seat straps from rubbing them. The ones on their car seats are quilted. Hmmmm, maybe someone can make quilted ones that velcro on and they will be thicker (depending on batting) and be more comfortable with the cotton fabric. Any ideas out there on how to make them?? Could be a big seller!!

I made myself one and it's super, well it does the job. I used some fleece fabric and made an oblong, double layered finished about 5" by 12". With wrong sides out I sewed around the outside leaving a small section to turn it the right way out. I then sewed Velcro on each end of the 12" ends and wrapped and closed it around my seat belt, works a treat. Tip: the fabric needs to be something soft, grippy and thick to do the job, so fleece was ideal, you can put some thin batting in if you want it extra cushioned.

The measurements are from memory but of course you can alter them according to how long you want it to be and how wide your seat belt is.

If you go to the dollar store they have seat belt sheepskin covers things to wrap around them and hold them secure they help me a lot, doesn't cut my neck!
oh and you could make them, and use velcro on them

I am about 5'6" and have the same problem. The seatbelt seems to slide up my boob and choke me. I am forever pulling on it. I used to have an adjuster that worked but I accidently left it in our old car when I sold it. I will have to try some of the suggestions here.

The cheapest and quickest way I have found is to twist the belt around itself twice and then fasten up. This moves the belt over just enough so it does not rub and I don't have anything to lose.

This is what I use also,I have a toren rotator cuff and this keeps the seat belt off that area.

I only use the lap strap.The chest harness cuts across either my chin or neck no matter what kind of vehicle I'm in.And now they rub against my surgery scar.It seems like just about anyone under 5'6' have a problem with the harnesses .i've tried all kinds of adapters suggested by mfg's and home made so now I just put the strap behind me and latch the lap strap

I have the same problem..I just twist the seat blet a couple of times then buckle.

I found something at Walmart years ago either in Automotive or kids. It is a simple grey clip that clips on the seat belt and you slide the shoulder strap in place and fit t to youeslf. It's really great- and cheap. My husband is 6' and I'm 5'2" so we need to have an easy versital belt and he isn't bothered by that clip because he can just slide it out of his way.
