Has anyone made a sweater fron fleece for their cat?

If so, can you tell me where I can find a pattern.

No, haven't had to do that. I did make a sweater for my chi x (about small cat size) out of a sleeve of an old woollen sweater. The sleeve cuff becomes the neck, you then cut holes for the front legs to go through and then trim the sleeve arm to fit the body (and hem for neatness). It worked but he hated wearing it and our other dog kept pulling at it. I ended up making him a fleecy/woolen bed cover as it only really gets cold here at night in the winter.

If you don't mind me asking, why does kitty need a sweater? Our cats despise collars, I don't think I'd have a hope of getting either of them clothed.

I am laughing at the concept. I had a friend who made something for her cat. I laughed at it too. She was so upset that the little monster had it off in 1/4 the time it took for her to put it on. I suggested a heating blanket instead. No cat I have owned would put up with a sweater. Or a costume (those are two second items.. I know.. I tried guilty here too). If you like your fingers, your arms and legs I truly think the heating blanket is the way to go or a water bottle.. mine live on the electric twin blanket folded at the end of the couch.. its cat central and costs only pennies a day to use. I turn it on at night so they can curl up there when I am tucked in my own warm bed. Keeps them out of mine for oh.. 2 or 3 hours (sleep wonderful sleep!).

Well when I was a kid I used to dress my cat up in doll cloths, She tolerated it! I guess it would depend on the cat's personality. I tried putting one on my sons Jack Russel and she refused to walk! LOL

I cannot imagine putting a cat in a fleece sweater. My cat had so much static electricity in his fur in the winter and the fleece would have just made it worse!!

:lol: I keep my cat shaved because I'm alergic to her fur. She is declawed and she sleeps ON M E in the winter. Therefore I wake up with a backache because I can't move.

She gets cold. Here she is.

ah a lion cut. I had some woman tell me this summer that she is allergic to the dander not the fur and no one is allergic to the fur. I do rescue.. ok how come my siamese cats always mess up my eyes and not the other ones? they all have dander.. so I think its the fur. Fur in my mans face makes his eyes swell shut like he was punched. And he still sticks around. Me with a cat rescue.. I must be something special huh? nah, I do laundry and cook. Probably why he sticks around. And I love his ducks so..

I think a cotton fabric would be better...Poor kitty and static electricity :shock:

All allergens are not created equal :D: Some cats and dogs cause me a very minor flair up...others make me so stuffed it is hard to breathe :wink:

I can sympathize, sewnsewer2. If i breathe up too much of whatever on the cats or the dog...ugh! So, your doing the best you can. How thoughtful to make a sweater or shirt.
I think I would go with the cotton too.
