yes, i always tell them this.
the ones i hate are the blocked number recorded calls [which are illegal here in MN] but there is no way for you to tell them not to call again.
and i am on the do not call list

Just Hang UP!!! It is YOUR phone!! Why are we (as women especially) so afraid we might hurt someone's feelings, someone we have never met and will never meet!! Do them a favor and hang up so they can get on to their next call.

no thank you. click.
That's what I do, too. also have caller ID. If a # comes up i don't recognize i don't pick up. Call goes right into answering machine.
If it's imp. they will leave a message or call back, or I can cut into the message by answering.

Default Phone calls

At least in the United States, we call a specific place and have our phone numbers placed on a do-not-call list, charities, politicians, and businesses we have used are exempt from the do-not-call order. If someone does call, they sometimes use random dialing, I ask how this number was found, and say"remove it from the list", and hang up. Last few weeks when it was time for a meal, always there were several calls urging us to attend the caucuses, or urging us to vote for a particular candidate--but that ended until the election in November.

it took me about five times to tell the Epilepsy Foundation to take my number off their list and not to call again. whom ever i told that to ignored me again and again and kept calling. finally spoke to a lady and told her i've been out of work two years and have no money!! they quit. for the time being anyway.
I am on the No call list but that doesn't stop everyone. these people called at 8:30 or later at night too! always woke my husband. Grrrr.

This does not stop them, but it slows them down. As they start their spiel, I ask if they can just wait amount while I time the hear down on the stove. Of course, years ago this was more effective because both parties had to hang up to clear the line. After about a minute, their line clears. They are less likely to keep you on a "try again" list IF YOU HAVE WASTED THEIR TIME. I learned to do this when they would call my business interrupting my helping people actually wanting to buy something.

Oh I hope this is true. I know that people are just doing there job, but no means no. I usually start out very nice so they don't hang up on me. Then in the middle of there spill I tell them that since they are sitting at there comp. to take my name of the list & DO NOT CALL ME EVER AGAIN. Then I hang up.

I find the charities to be the biggest problem. I say No Thank you and there is always a but... The last phone call I received I told them I had no money, but if they would like to give me money I would sure appreciate it. They have not called back.

First words out of my mouth is Please put this number on your do not call list. If you sign up for anything free or any contest and list your phone number you are allowing sales calls from any related business to contact you even if you are on the do not call list. I use our old out of service phone number, if the contest is legit, you will be contacted by your address or email.
