Hi Debo
I am also from Waco ( Hewitt). Check out the website for a retreat center called Compass Retreat Center in Mt Calm. The owner is named Melissa. She is always having quilting retreats and I am sure would give you all kinds of information.

What color do you suggest? Not sure yet if I'll be going, but if
I do, I'd certainly like to meet any of you who are there.

ILQ, there are lots of quilters in Arizona. I was in the Tucson/Oro Valley area and there are some great shops. And although I never got to go, I know that there are regular quilt retreats held somewhere in the White Mountains. Any of the local quilt shops should be able to tell you about them, that's where I heard about them. Good luck!
