I just wanted to ask y'alls opinion. I went to a flea market type place today on a whim, and saw this singer treadle, in its wooden table, looked like it just came out of a show room! I mean, pristine condition ( sorry no pics - didnt have anything w/ me all, not even a phone).

I know you all talk about feather weights, but dont think this is one, it has its own table that opens and a treadle - does need a new leather belt, but the original one is there.

Don't know the yr, but I saw pictures on the board from someone who had one, it has this whole Egyptian looking decal on the top and on the bed the machine sits on, all intact, and as bright as and shiney as a new penny.

They have 300$ on it, and I wondered if this was a goood price? sharet

No it isn't a featherweight, not in a treadle. With the egyptian decals it sounds like it might be a Singer Model 66 and in my locale 300.00 is way too much. Hope this helps.

yes, it helps cus it pointed me at model numbers. I looked more like a 27 - with a sphinx on it. I cant figure out a fair price - under 200$, maybe 150$ - its very nice, if I could talk myself into seeing the use of it I'd offer at least 150$ for it sharet

i paid 125 for mine which is sphinx and dated 1899 from scotland, could you get a serial number to look her up on singerco.com

Where I am, $150 is a fair price for a treadle machine in cabinet in good working condition. In pristine condition, I would think $200 would be the highest price; absolute max would be $300.

If it truly is in pristine condition, I can understand the $300 price tag. However, then I begin to wonder if it could be a reproduction instead of the real thing. I don't know much about reproductions, so really don't know how you would check on that. Most of the vintage machines will show some wear-and-tear.

If it were worth $300, they should have a new belt on it. I don't think it would be worth that much for me!

I bought a similar one for $50. I've seen them for around $125 quite often. Mine is a 127.
