I want to thank those of you who recommended that we take in an exchange student. Johannes is an absolute joy. I think we are learning more from him than he is from us.

He literally asks several ties per day if he can help with anything. The last time he was at Starbucks with his friends, he called me to ask what he could bring to me. he also grabbed the shopping cart from me yesterday, and pushed it to the cart.

If he marries some day, he is going to have a very lucky wife. What a great kid! We all love him!

That is wonderful to hear. It's always scarry when you bring a stranger into your home but it sounds like things are working out great.

It's very rewarding!
We were a billett family for a hockey team in the area.
We did it for 5 years. We are still in touch with the boys & their family's.
Enjoy! It's for a lifetime.

I'm so glad you decided to participate in the program. He sounds like a wonderful young man. Wouldn't it be wonderful to go visit his family!

So glad to hear this. When my daughter spent a semester in Spain I agonized over what host family she would be living with. She had a marvelous experience. They treated her like their own and gave her insights on the culture others in her group didn't get. When she fell ill I worried and worried but the host mom was right there for her. Thank you to all the great host families in this world for making our kids feel safe and enjoyed!!

Twenty five years ago, we hosted a young lady from Japan. Today, her kids call me Grama! They live in Japan, thanks to email and face book and visits, we all still keep in touch. It continues to be a wonderful experience for all of us.
We were able to visit her family in Japan, her family, grandparents, aunts and uncles all treated us like long lost relatives.
