Default wool blankets

Has anyone made a jacket/coat using Pendleton 100% wool blankets? I found a picture on Pinterest of a coat made out of the same blanket that I have, and I love it. Was wondering if I should attempt to wash the blanket, I know that washing wool felts it. The other option is dry clean. The blanket is quite thick so I am thinking of a simple pattern and I don't think I would use a very heavy lining. Your opinions and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Many of the Pendleton wool blankets are washable. If you write to the company, they may be able to tell you whether or not yours is.

You can also buy fabric on the Pendleton Wool website. (Believe it or not, I used to buy it at Disneyland, when I worked there long ago. Too long ago! lol)

All wool fabric can be washed as long as you use cold water and don't throw it in the dryer. Look at sheep. They get caught in the rain, but they don't get felted :-).

Heat makes wool felt not water. Wash gently in your usual quilt wash product and cold water, and dry flat. (My brother in law works at Pendleton Woolen Mills in Washougal, WA)
