I would like to find something that actually worked. I injured my foot getting out of the shower, got infected, and had to wear compression knee highs for months. I've had problems with toenail fungus ever since. I just tried Kerasil TN medication and the only thing I think it did was make the toenail soft where I could clean out underneath the nail. It didn't cure the problem. I would really like to be able to wear sandals again.

Foot doc said don't bother with the Rx meds. They don't work very well and have side effects.

my problem started when I wore socks and tennis shoes every day to work on this one job. I'm going to try some of these methods. Thanks for all the info.

DH has had fungus under toe nail for decades as well. It was cured when he went through chemotherapy for his cancer (those drugs'll kill almost everything!) That's behind us and the fungus has returned and looks like it never left. It doesn't bother him, but it does me. We'll try the tea tree oil foot soak. Thanks for the info.

Good Morning to all,
I have to add that it isn't just any old mouthwash; it is the old brown LISTERINE. Look at the label because it has been an antiseptic always. It does work.

I used tea tree oil on a fungi nail that I've had for years.....my foot doc wanted me to take the meds, but I tried the oil, and no more fungi!! I was amazed....the problem has not returned, and I didn't have to take a med with a hundred side effects!!!

Trying tea tree oil now, tried the vicks, didn't work, got worse. Might try the listerine attack next if I don't see some improvement soon. Been a couple weeks on tea tree oil and yes, it does stink to high heaven.

I picked up toe nail fungus living in Pac NW. My insurance wouldn't cover the pills and they are quite expensive. Pharmacist suggested using Fungi-nail, a brush on topical med. It took a while, but it worked. Now I very seldom wear socks and closed toe shoes. Fresh air is the best preventative. It's been 10 years since I got rid of the fungus.

Its nice to know I'm not alone...never had it before...got it two years ago and have tried all over the counter meds, including tea tree oil to no avail. Have not tried lysterine..Also saw two dr.s and several very expensive perscription creams. Went to new dr. three weeks ago and begged for the oral medication (oral lamisil is what it is). I'm hoping..also gave me liquid nail polish medication to the tune of 35.00...I hope it works. I've lost the nail and regrew and lost half, another summer with no sandles....to the lady that wanted to know how to trim thick nails...Joann Fabrics sells this short thick bladed pink handled pair of scissors, they work better than any nail clipper I know. I use one on my callouses too..Dr. told me I did a nice job trimming them. I think they may have changed the color but they looked like this but pink http://www.joann.com/tonic-spring-cu...rple/prd50210/

My uncle used to have trouble with athelete's feet and he used listerine twice a day and it went away.

Just my big toe nails are thick. The left one seems to just grow up, & the right one is just too thick to cut. I just keep filing on them, whenever I think of it. Don't want to go through the pain of having them removed, nor the expense, as I bet insurance doesn't cover it. I hate to look at them, but have never been a foot fan anyway, lol. I go barefoot alot in the house, & with summer now, where my open toe sandals, so they can breathe. If anyone notices, it their problem right. Mine don't hurt, so I just keep filing them...
