We had a red eared slider for about six years. One thing we did learn about them is that they grow according to their environment. We were always buying a bigger tank because he kept growing. When we quit buying bigger tanks he quit growing. We gave him away several years ago and is still going strong with his new owners.

Looks like a happy turtle to be going outside! When my daughter was little, she used to take her hamsters out and let them play in a clover patch while she watched. They loved it and it was so cute!

I love turtles and believe in protecting them. I was going to church on Mother's Day, and when I came down the road close to my house, before a highway entrance, there was a turtle trying to cross the road. I immediately stopped my car, ran to it, high heels and all, and put it back into the grass near a water source, away from the road. when I came home 4 hours letter, I checked that area to make sure that I did not see a dead turtle anywhere near that particular entrance. I just feel that turtles are special and have a special purpose here on earth and need to be protected. I think your Cecil is very handsome., May he live 50 plus years and have a good life.

I have always wanted one. Last year we had a turtle lay eggs in my yard, we waited anxiously for them to hatch. They never did. I ended up digging around them and seeing if they were still there they were all rotten. If we were not moving so much I would get one. Thanks for sharing.
