Default VHS to DVD gizmo

I wish someone would invent a good gizmo to transfer VHS tapes to DVD, I bought one a couple years back, you connected it to your VCR and computer, it was a NIGHTMARE! I think it would sell really well, we have a lot of old movies that you can't buy on DVD. Ok, that's all I can think of to complain about this morning.

My hubby has a DVD recorder that will tape from VHS to DVD. He did all my Carol Burnett tapes for me. However they are pricey. I think we gave about 300.00 for ours.

can you give me the brand, where he got it? it is pricey but we've got waaaayy more than that in tapes, we still have a player but it's a pain to connect each time and DVD's take up so much less room!

I would like the brand name too. I have so many VCR tapes and I would like to transfer them to a DVD.

It may be this one:

But be sure to read all of the review comments to be sure you have a setup that would be compatible.

I have a Magnavox VHS/ DVD recorder. $200.00 from Amazon. I've had no problems with it. http://www.amazon.com/Magnavox-ZV427...s+dvd+recorder

I totally agree with you. I think Sony had a product out but I don't know how good it was. There were also units that contain a writable DVD player and a VHS unit. My friend has one. Thought one day I would choose my favorite episodes of Simply Quilts and put them onto a DVD.

I wish I had kept some of my VHS tapes because I cannot find them in DVD format. Especially I wish I still had my Richard Simmons dancing to Broadway tunes.

If you have a Sam"s club, check there. I bought mine there for 200 a couple years ago and it works well.

I have a question......do these machines copy a pre-recorded VHS, such as Disney tapes, to a blank dvd disc?I have so many purchased from Disney over the years for my girls and they still have their favorites (i.e., Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid). It would be great if I could just copy those VHS tapes onto a disc. Please advise!!
