Default Car Seat Covers are a Great Idea

When I saw these car seat covers, I thought they were a great idea. I stuck with the nursery theme of elephants and made one for my future grandson out of two flannels.

Very cute! I see Moms struggling with the heavy car seats and wonder how they do it.

Your elephants just keep getting cuter and cuter! And the elephant button is perfect!

Great idea. We're expecting our 11th grandchild in Dec. & this would be a good shower gift. Where did you find the pattern?

I found a few patterns online and just picked parts I wanted. It is made from two 36" x 41" pieces of fabric sewed right side together and then turned right side out.
The velcro strips are made from two 3" x 9" fabric pieces sewed right sides together and turned right side out. Then top stitched around edges 1/4" and put on velcro or snaps. I made two of those and pinned on the large blanket piece not in the middle but about 23" from short edge making it a little longer in the front than in the back, then I centered them 4.5" from center line.
I folded up the corners 7 3/4" so the corners would not drag on the floor. See photo pattern attached.

Kathleen, Thanks for all the info. I have a fun flannel print that will be perfect for this.

I made 3 of thes when my granddaughter was born. They are so useful and so expensive in a boutique! I have also seen free patterns for ones that have a flap in the middle that you can open so they can see out-but daughter didn't want one of those. I did cottons on the outside and flannel on the inside.
