Its a beautiful bird and the little guy is really cute. I wonder if you could contact your local Wildlife Management person, they might have a local wild bird rescue person that they could tell you about. They would be prepared to take care of it if its needed. Your little guy might have just fallen from the nest or something though. Hopefully its momma is fine...Good luck with that baby...cute!

I think he will be ok. We see loners all the time. They hang out in the same place on our back patio. We do keep an eye on them too.

I think it's a screech owl? Yes! Our cats are indoor cats. They do go out on the screened in patio during the day tho, not at night.

That is a great picture for your son to have. When my husband and I were newly married (41 years ago), we came home one night and there on our back patio was a small owl about a foot from the window. We were concerned it flew into the window but didn't appear hurt so we left it along. The next morning is was gone and only "a calling card" was left to show us he/she had been there. I still can picture in my mind that little cutie on our patio.

My son has two young owls in his deer stand in the woods. My
DIL goes down every week to take pictures of them The mother flew about three feet from her one day.. They are really making a mess of the deer stand but it is worth it to watch them grow!!
