Rather than things for the house or for them, I think it should be something pretty, personal, and timeless just for her. A sweet perfume? An elegant clutch purse? 72 and a first time bride? She needs to feel that romance and giddiness a 20 year old bride feels. Think back ... what one thing did you receive that even if you don't still have it you think of it often?

I remarried after 32 years being divorced. We met on the internet. Both of us were 75 years old and each had children and grandchildren. It was fun planning it as a family meeting and fun to get to know you. wedding at a Mass and reception at a local playground/ walking track with an indoor playground for ther Grandchildren. At our first anniversary party we invited everyone to our Golden Anniversary party. How's that ? We really appreciated all the gift cards to eat ou, get new linens, purchase plants for our yard, and donatins to our favorite charities. Life is great ! He eats ANYTHING including left overs and attends quiltshows with me. God sent me an angel.......

Maybe some soft porn movies or at least some very romantic movies. It must be hard to start having sex at age 72.Will she even know what to do?

Depending on her personality and how well you know her, it could go to the rauchy side for giggles (My Mom is 76 and would love a slightly "naughty" party as she is not "old" in her option) or something they could enjoy such as an assortment of teas, coffees, cocoas, wines etc if they are the leisurely sort of couple.

Electric photo albums are nice too so they'll have a slide show of their pictures from before and after.

I like the frame idea - engraved with the wedding date and their names!

I agree with Tothill ... a spa day, a Mani/Pedi .. or even just a basket of home "spa" items that are specific to de-stressing.
