My beloved 'Grands' call me Oma. It's the German equivalent of Grandmother. It's easy for the little ones to say, and the older ones think it's cool. In fact, the oldest one says her other Grandmother, who is called Nana, wants her to call her Oma! Of course, she could be saying that just to flatter me...

One thing that really melts my heart is when one of the 'grands' gets excited about something and just has to have my immediate attention, and calls to me, "Oma! Oma! Oma!"

My husband elected to be called 'Pop-Pop'. Every now and then one of the kids thinks it's funny to call him "Double-Pop".

"GG" - it's easy to spell and makes sense, too.

I think it all depends on the OTHER grandmother and grandfather names used in the family. We called my maternal grandmother Mama which was the same thing our mother and her siblings called her. Our grandfather was Papa. We called my paternal grandmother Mom (also the same as my dad and his siblings called her). This grandfather was Pop. Then when we had children we called my mother Granny. Now my dad was called GONKY. The oldest grandson couldn't say Grumpy as he wanted to be called. So until his death, he was Gonky. When it came to our grandchildren I am called Mimi (pronounced Me-me) and DH is called Toto. (Yes, as in the Wizard of Oz.) My sister's children called her Mama and her grandchildren called her Kat which was her name (for Kathy). BTW, don't let the name grandmother make you feel old. Those grandchildren will add years to your life -- youthful years.

Our grandson calls us Nana and Poppy. He calls his other grandfather Pop-Pop, great grandmom is Grandmom, and great-great-grandparents are Nanny and Grandpop.

I call my grandmother Nanny and my other was Mema (sounds like mem-A).

I love being called Memere! It's part of my ancestery. I've been around people who did not want to be called anything that had to do with "grandparent". I just told them to grow up. My gosh--it's like the mother who wants to act like their kids.

I only have kids so far (I'm barely 23) but figured I'd share my kids's grandparents' names. There was a Papa, there is a Meme, Grammy, Papi (pronounced Pa-pee), Pop-pop, G. Ma(For a grandma or great grandma) , G. Pa(For a grandpa or great grandpa), GG (for Great Grandma), Gamma

When my first grandaughter was born, I had hoped she would call me Nana, as that is what my daughters called my mother, but she called me Nina instead and then my grandson was born and he too calls me Nina. One day she introduced me to her little friend, "This is my grandma Nina". My husband is called Pa Pa. But usually the kids will call you what they want and what they can pronounce.
