When I joined the board I had just become a grandma for the first time-that baby is now 12 and I have a total of 5 grandsons and one on the way. They all call me Nana.

When I joined the board I lived in a small rural town in SW Florida, Alva. We moved from there 5 years ago but I haven’t tried to change the name. It brings back a lot of good memories. Making new memories now.

My username is a nickname given to one of my grandsons by his first nephew because as a young man he had a lot of freckles and he couldn’t say his given name, therefore unclefreckles. All of his nieces and nephews still call him that!

My mother said she named me "Mavis" because she had had a little student in her one room school named Mavis and liked it. Mavis is actually an English sur-name. A man whose last name was Mavis found a "new" bird and named it Mavis. That's how it got to be a girl's name. From the bird. Now I see Mavis used as a first and last name for men and women. My daughter was looking at recent births in her town and found a new baby named Mavis. That was unusual. All the people that I know named Mavis are getting quite old.

This really cracked me up! :-) And I thought my brother's nickname of "Twinkletoes" due to clumsiness was bad. Childhood memories...

A family near me named their first three children Patrick, Patricia and Patsy. LOL

That's exactly what I have done, but I don't use that moniker too much. It is MCEKLW. My first name, my baptismal name, my confirmation name, my maiden name, my first married name, and my second husband's name.

I should really tell you from where the Mavita came. On a trip to Peru, the guide called me Mavita when she heard my name. The "ita" is an expression of love or cuteness. Anita means Little Ann, Juanita is Little Joan, and a grandmother might be called Abuelita.

One more time. I have to say that I have read this entire thread and have thoroughly enjoyed it!

Mine too is just a combo of my husband’s name and my name. I just used the l in his name for the first letter of my name. 7 is a number I like so I am Earlori7. Not too original, but easy for me to remember. I don’t post often, but read the posts from everyone and have learned so much. Thank you.
