What Pet Names do you call your loved ones?

When my kids were small I used to call them "punkin". Now they're married with their own kids. Once in a while I'll slip and call one of my daughters 'punkin' again in front of their kids and they (the kids) just laugh and laugh.
"Did you write Punkin on your papers at school, Mom?"
"Punkin, can I go outside?"
"Punkin, will you pick me up after school".
One of my 5yr old grandsons really latches on to it and won't stop calling his mother "Punkin" for days.
My DDs just love me more when it happens...lol.

I always called my 2 boys Sunshine and our daughter Princess or Squirt. Now our kids all each other Hill... our last name. My DH family all call each other Hill... you have to be listening to the conversation to know who they're talking about!

I love nicknames but only to people i know. Don't call me honey if I'm older then you!! I call a girl at my job CareBear (Kerri), my husband is know by friends as Bear so some of the kids at church call me Mrs Bear when they don't say Miss Melissa. I used to share a house with an aunt and uncle when I was little--they call me Whissa and I call my aunt Khacki (kathy). My older sister couldn't say my name at 2 so she dubbed me Si-Si and herself Ka-Ka. I love calling her that in public!! I call my mom Woman out of affection and a few close older female friends Lady. I tease my dad that he's an old fart. My cousin is Jed-Man, my friends 2 girls are Hailey-Monster and Cady-Bug/tinkerbell...can't think of anymore right now.

I also hate the "Honey', 'Sweetie' etc. you hear in public from customers or workers. I don't mind the "Sweetie" from someone who is older than me, but from someone who is young enough to be my child or even grandchild! NOT.
I wear a name tag when I'm working so they could call me by my name. And those that do, or already know my name will call me Ms. Phyllis, not just Phyllis. I like that.

When teaching my Kindergartens to use Yes Ma'am and Yes Sir, I found that the easiest way was to use those terms of respect just as I expected them to. When I retired from teaching and went into real estate I did have a few women who asked me not to say Yes, Ma'am. Guess what, I had learned it so well that it was out of my mouth before I could stop it.

Everything around my house has some type of name, including the cars and my sewing machines. I call whatever any name that rolls of my tongue at the time. Lately...most of the cats have been "stinker". My Mom used to call me "chicken" or "chick". I usually call DH-"Hun" (as in Attilla..not the sweet one :lol: although he is really sweet). The dog is "Friddle Diddle". The list goes on and on....

I call my DH honey or pookie, he calls me sweetheart or ma'am...the ma'am is when he wants to irritate me! The dogs get called Brandy-boo (Brandy) and Zoey-Poey (Zoey). The three cats never got "proper" names, just nicknames that we used when they were little to tell them apart: Tippy (lighter tip on tail), Toadie (fat "toad frog" belly) and Paw (only one with solid black paws).

when shopping one of my pet peeves is to be called pet names by a stranger behind the checkout counter.

I'm right there with you, especially when the shop person is a male dealing with my car...
Back to your main question, I call my dad 'Pop' and my brother "Bubba". That's about all the pet names I use unless you count the cats. I refer to one as "mon petit chou chou" (no idea why I use that, but I like it)

My DH is called Babe ever since I started going with him....has it been nearly 35 years. For me to call him by his given name seems so odd. When our daughter was born, I tried to shy away from calling her those foo foo pet names that a lot of mother call they daughters (Princess, etc.). I tried to think of the most awful pet name I could think of....Petunia. LOL Hubby's aunt calls me "Honeybun."
