I've been asked to sew some curtains by a fellow my husband knows but I've only just met. They are to go in a bus he is doing up as a mobile home. I'm wondering if $15.00 per curtain is a fair price. I've asked my best friend and she thinks it's reasonable. Would be interested in others opinions. The aussie & American dollars are about even today.

I would say so, but only for your time/labor. Material is expensive nowadays and if they aren't providing the fabric (i.e. - if they are choosing anything in your stash) you might charge extra for what they will use from it or the actual cost of purchase for a new fabric selection of their choice from whatsover vendor. Also if his bus doesn't already have the means to hang them - then you will also have to charge for rods that will work etc to hang them as you will need to take that into account during fabrication. Best of luck!

Explosive blessings, abundance and inspiration to you all!

Curtains in a store are pretty expensive....I would see what type he is looking for then look at a few stores to see what they are selling for. Let them supply the Fabric and Thread.

That seems fair since they will provide the fabric, and these will be on the smaller size, so go for it!

I charge 10.00/hr plus materials and I don't do anything fancy. Plus, make sure you quote a minimum.

Depends on how much work...I did panels for my niece which she also wanted lined so I charged 15 per panel...30 per set.

I did curtains for the windows in my RV, just quickie WOF with rod pocket with header at top and hem at the bottom. Took next to no time to get 'em done. If you line them, then I'd charge more, but for the ones like I did, I think your price is about right. If the fabric he's chosen is difficult to work with then again you might want to charge more, but most drapery fabric is easy to deal with and I doubt he's wanting silky sheers!

are you buying the fabric or is he?
if you are purchasing i think $15 is way too low.
how many curtains?
when sewing for other people (basic sewing projects-not quilting) i charge cost of materials( fabric, thread, patterns...what ever is needed) plus $20 an hour sewing time.
must not be considered too high because i get lots of requests.
