I grew up in orchard country in Connecticut and MacIntosh was my all time fave. However, they don't store or ship well, so here in Oklahoma they arrive all yucky.

I also liked Ida Reds for pie in New England. I don't see them here.

Honey Crisp is my favorite that I can get here. I mix them with Granny Smith for baking.
