It just occurred to me that it might be a good idea to take a picture of it before, during, and after it is packed in the box - and a picture of the shipping label, too.

Keep one set - and send a set - in a separate envelope or via e-mail - to the shippee.

Once in a great while, there is a typo in the shipping address - and things can go elsewhere.

It is important to have the address of where the quilt is to go along with your return address attached to the quilt.

I always add both addresses to the inside of any quilt package I send out. I will put the addresses in a zip lock bag and put that inside the plastic bag I put the quilt in before I box it up.

Taking pictures is a great way to record the whole process. It could possibly help if a quilt is lost.

My dad worked for the airlines and he insisted that anything and everything that we mailed or travelled with, had i.d. inside. If the outside gets damaged. water logged etc. the info inside can save the day. Doesn't happen very often but accidents do happen.

Since reading of lost quilts in shipping I'm apt to start adding the recipent's address inside the bag containing the quilt too. I always put the quilt into a plastic bag as most of my quilts are shipped to Florida and with all that rain and humidity I surely wouldn't want it to get wet if the box broke. Now I'll add the address too just in case they decide to use it for a football during breaks.

Love the football reference....I, too, send most of mine to Florida and I try to remember to put both addresses....theirs and mine....in the plastic bag. I usually have a picture too, but I could take a better one.....

I've always included the address information on the inside of the box but never thought to take pictures. What a good idea! And with cell phones they will be easy to delete once the package is received but invaluable if a search has to be made for it.
