well mine was a real goodie.
3-years ago when getting computer had it on dial-up.
Norton was ending so went and bought new one to download.
Would not download as dial up as to slooooooow and would disconnect just before finishing. Tried several times and finally had to call Norton ( which is in some other country) on my cell phone as this is dial-up. OMG---took them over 5-hours to keep it from unconnecting before the download finally took....that was a piece of cake !!
what was hard was the cellphone bill that came a month later with out of country fees for 5+ hrs !!
have brain injury and thought 800 numbers were free...not so much !
boy did I have my emotions in that phone call to At&t trying to get them to understand I did not understand. Finally convinced them as I am long time customer and they agreed to waive all fees for that call.

What you should have done is ask to speak to an American and I was told they have to transfer you back to the US or they are in trouble. In fact any time you have to call someone about your computer, printer, mixer, camera or whatever if you ask to speak to an American they have to transfer you to the USA.

Thanks, I didn't know that, every computer tech is in India and I can't understand complicated computer manuvers in a heavy accent. Will try that next time.

ROFL. I had dial up until I joinde the board and got high speed thru HUghes net in a hurry. Took hours to downlaod anything and 5+ minutes to change pages. So glad I did. Well worth it.

My worst nightmare was also a phone bill - $900!!! Not my cell phone ... my land line. Seemed that Ameritech wanted me to use my line for talking - not for fax or dial up. I said I never agreed to use my phone for talking only. They said they sent a letter of how phone was supposed to be used - loophole - the letter was sent AFTER I had the service connected. They tried to "discount" it for me and I held firm and said I was only paying for the regular monthly service (my dial up # was a local call). They finally agreed to remove those charges completely then said that I could no longer use my phone for fax or dial up - I said - nope. You can't sell me a service then change the rules on how I can use the service after I bought it. They left me alone - but it took SEVERAL WEEKS of phone calls to get it to stick. This was before we had cable in our town so there was no other option.

Now I don't even have a land line anymore. Vonage had a much better deal with monthly flat fee for all Long Distance INCLUDING to England and we call there a few times a week.

My neighbor told me about a company.Boy I'm glad i did,no more people pc.So much better and it's only 34 dollars a month.I think that's pretty good for our area.

Phone bill....many years ago when we first got online, my dh listened to Texas Tech games on the computer (we lived in Houston at the time). We didn't realize our "dial up" service was a long distance call. Didn't stop him from listening, but it did speed up looking into other services.
