Is anyone in Ketchikan????

I am going to Alaska in June for a week to visit my 1/2 sister. I have 2 nieces, one was too little last time I saw her (7 yrs ago) she doesn't remember me, and the other one I have never met. I am excited to see them. I will be the only one going, my family will be staying home.
She is trying to get me entered into the Salmon derby and has another day planned for fishing to. During the week I will be just wondering around until she gets off work. She is going to let me keep her truck during the day.
Is there any "must see" places while I am there? I have been looking at different things to do on the internet, but was just wondering what any locals thought.
Thanks

We spent a short time in Ketchikan when we were on a cruise. There is a quilt shop & lots of "fun" local tourist things to see. Did you search out a shop or guild? Maybe they'll be meeting while you're there & you can visit?

Well you have to go to the Silver Thimble quilt store at the end of the pier and upstairs...
We went and saw eagles but they were smaller than the ones we have here. Their moose are bigger though!
Here are two pics taken in my backyard this weekend! Hope you get to see lots of the wonders of Alaska... and you hit one of the few sunny days Ketchikan gets!

Ketchikan is interesting. Lots of places to poke around. I got fabric there for a lap quilt (a UFO...I need to get it back out!). Eagles, totem poles, lumberjack show...we were there during a salmnon run and watched them making their way up the "gates" and watched seals hunting them in the streams...it depends on your timing whether you get to see that. We were only there for one day. I could have stayed longer. Definitely do some Google searching and see what's available.
