    Any advice on the white speedy-lock sewing machine model 1634. Do you need to have a serger machine for quilting?

    i have never used a serger for making quilts,it isnt necessary.

    Thanks , I didn't think so but I see them in so many of the sewing room photo's.

    All the extra thread in the serging adds a lot of weight to the finished quilt.

    alot of people will serge the edges of fabric before washing so that the ends will not ravel,and you can use them to do regular sewing,the show it on tv all the time.but its real use is to finish edges of fabric or to do rolled hems and things like that
