Absolutely! Black eyed peas and ham and cornbread. My folks were from Texas and this was a long standing tradition. Wouldn't miss it.

I was looking at traditional foods for the new Year and remember at my grandparents always having pickled pigs feet and Pickled herring yuck on both but that was their tradition German I think.

Yes, black eyed peas, cabbage, country ham & biscuits. We have this every Jan. 1.

Sounds like a great combo - black eyed peas, cornbread, ham...I don't know of any new year's traditions here in New England. But at Christmas I did make a cornbread stuffing with my garden limas (frozen) and corn (frozen) and a little touch of bacon. No red pepper as one of us is allergic to bell peppers. No ham as no one but DH and I will eat it.

What do you do with the cabbage?

Black-eyed peas and ham - forgot the cornbread! We've never done cabbage - just the black-eyed peas are the "luck" thing around here. When our son-in-law joined us about 10 years ago he did not like peas. The rule here has always been you have to try the number equal to your age. So for the SIL my daughter counted out 21 peas - and he ate them. We didn't see them today so don't know if he ate 31 of them or not.

I had dinner with friends. We had corned beef; side dish of black-eye peas & spinach. We also had marzipan pigs for prosperity.

Today I had turkey/pork sausage with lots of green leafy veggies.

We had sloppy joes and low salt potato chips. Strawberries, grapes and blackberries. We have no traditions for the New Year. We do like black eyed peas, haven't had them for a few years.
I always wish for a better year than the last. Happy New Year to all.

I cut a head of cabbage into quarters, cut out the core. Tear the leaves apart & put into a large pot of water, salt, pepper & bacon grease to taste. Boil until tender.
