In my first home, (a trailer), I sewed at the kitchen table. Then the next place, I graduated to a large built-in desk in the boys bedroom. Actually that worked out well because as those toddler kids played, I could watch them. Next, when I had a bigger home, I sewed in my bedroom. Such fantastic light in there, and a big bed to spread out projects to "eyeball" them.
Now I have a large laundry room. That has worked the best. I sew on one side, have iron, dryer top, etc. all handy to work on. and great windows. If I ever had a "dream" home, I think I would purposely choose the laundry room again!

We live in an old trailer and before us my sis and her hubby lived here. It had three bedrooms and they knocked out a wall so that it was one big room. The bed is on one end and the sewing "room" is on the other.

Mine is in my room...but its a huge master bedroom, two dressers, desk, dining room table (sewing machine on top),two endtables, and a queen size bed with more than enough room to move around!!
But, I also have to hide my machine from the toddlers!! They just love to push the buttons!!!

I used to have my sewing machine in my room in the corner. My tote was underneath the table when I wasn't sewing full of fabric. Now my sewing machine is not in my room anymore, it is in it's travel bag ready to be taken wherever I go to sew! :)

Before the kids left home I sewed in my laundry room and that was fine, then the kids all moved out I said to my DH I will take all my sewing up to the spare bedrooms (2 of them) and he said NO. We never use the dining room except on Christmas so why don't you just put your machine on the dining room table and sew there. So it have been there ever since. He then had cupboards built in my laundry to put all my fabric etc in. Then I started buying those plastic drawers from Walmart to catch the over flow. LOL . My laundry room is right off the dining room so everything works fine. We rarely have any company except family and they know I spend my days sewing. Marge

I have 2 or 3 machines in EVERY room of my house!!! I don't know how it happened but it started when I wanted a featherweight. We started seeing other Singers and little by little I have accumulated a family of machines (all working -- my DH loves to tinker) -- my latest is a husqrvana Viking quilter that took up my porch -- and he says that enough is enough -- placing blame on me!!! But every time we find an orphan, we just have to adopt it! 30+.
