haven't i heard of ladies who make wigs for free with donated hair for kids with alopecia? just learned that a fella i used to work with at the P.O has a ll yr old daughter, and she doesn't have a wig. I'm sure i could come up with the hair. and do they have to be replaced often?

Wigs for kids is one and locks of love is another. I donated twice to wigs for kids. I also sent in my grandmother's hair, a beautiful, long silvery braid. They don't use those for the kids wigs, but they are able to sell them to make money to have the kids' wigs made.

I've been wanting to donate to locks of love for a long time, now, but where I live, they won't take any less than 12" of hair...
My cousin has alopicia, it never occured to me that people with that condition might need a wig just as much as a cancer patient...

Two years ago I donated 15" of beautiful naturally red, curley hair to Lockstolove. They sent such a beautiful card in return. My son started to grow his hair just for a kick. He just had it cut and donated 12" to lockstolove. His is curly too, dark brown. What a great thing for a college kid to do (Univ of Delaware, Masters in Technical Theatre) I don't think that I'll cut off that much again, but it was sure a good feeling once. They need atleast 10" to use.
