I use NetGear equipment to set up my wireless network at home.

adding a wireless router to DSL is a snap. when it comes to a satellite ISP, it's a whole new ballgame.

i recommend you call the tech support folks from your internet service provider. there are sometimes extra steps involved when you add a wireless router to a satellite ISP. there are settings they have to change at their end, plus some they can provide for you to input on your end.

well worth the time it takes to call the experts. (don't ask me how many hours and buckets of sweat i wasted trying to figure it out myself. )

My hubby said it may be a security issue. He has set up a number of routers.

We went thru 3 routers. Then bought a Netgear for about 80.00. I can use my laptop while DH uses his in another room. It works Great!

Call your internet provider! We have DSL with ATT and they walked us thru everything until we got it working.
We called Linksys first and they couldn't figure out what was not working. We called ATT and they walked us thur step by step!

I agree with the previous poster -- call your ISP -- you may need some special settings on your router to work with their radio system.

Some of the wide area wireless equipment, which is what you're using to comm with the outside world, use special security settings, etc that need to be set up in your router, and your ISP should be very helpful in figuring this out.

I've had a wireless router for years. Same brand you have. Take it out of the box, plug it in, connect cable, the one from the phone or cable line and . Then turn it on and turn on your computer and click on the wireless icon, put in the password of your choice and you should be good to go. If you call Linksys, they will walk you thru it. Its really easy. It should be up as high as you can get it. I have mine on my bookcase in the sewing room as that used to be my computer room.
