I bought wool balls from Amazon to try. Have used them off and on, but they are noisy compared to not using them. I have not timed dryer loads, but I can't see that they have reduced dryer times significantly for us. They do get "lost" in dryer loads of sheets -- especially king size and/or bottom sheets. I have never used dryer sheets. I just use Downey or vinegar in the washing machines, and that seems to take care of static for us. I quit using the wool balls just because I couldn't see that they were worth using for us. In the past I have also tried tennis balls and the spiky plastic balls. My home dryer is small, so that might make a difference.

I use them because the dryer sheets eventually make towels and fleece clothing stiff from the build up it leaves. I have also used plastic balls with nubs on them and they work just as well for those that are allergic to wool. I don't find any decrease in the time it takes to dry things.

I have used them and really am not sure if they are worth it. My white balls shed all over my black t-shirts. My son puts balls of aluminum foil in the dryer for static and he really likes it.

I have used them for 5 months now after my niece told me about them. I Love them. It cuts down on drying time and really fluffs towels nice as well as clothes. I do add a softner sheet .As cheap as I got mine I wouldn't even try to make them. 3 in a pack for $6.99

I have the plastic nubby ones and the felted wool. I have used both for many years and I really do like them. I know the people that made the felted wool balls said they were lots of work to make. They sold them for my churches' preschool as a fundraiser and people that purchased them came back and purchased again.

I don't put them in the washer after my first use, but I use them in the dryer and love them -- I have noticed my fabric comes out much less wrinkled, as do my clothes. I can't wear wool next to my skin, but what they shed doesn't seem to bother me.

I have them, don't think they make the clothes dry any faster. I never used dryer sheets with towels or sheets. I bought mine from Amazon, I usually throw 2 or 3 in depending on how big the load is.

I stopped using fabric softener about a year ago. I put distilled vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser instead. I put a few drops of lemongrass essential oil on my dryer balls from Amazon. Everything smells clean and fresh.

I just ordered some wool dryer balls from my local alpaca farm. The owner makes them by hand she said they're large about the size of a baseball. Can't wait to get them.
